Unleashing Creativity

One of the key aspects of the daily lived experience of homelessness is boredom.

“What does homelessness mean to you?”

“Boredom”   ….  “Tumbleweed”   …. “Being stuck” …. “In a loop”

Boredom and a lack of purpose can increase the temptation to feed addictive behaviours some people have developed to cope through their lives.

“To be honest, I get so bored I drugs to have something to do”

“I’ve strayed in the past two and a half years… mostly because of the pain and having nothing to do.”

We believe that all people are creative, purposive beings, and that it is good to create.

After all, we are made in the image of God who is a creator God, and who asks us to share in the act of naming, creating and being fruitful*

In everything we do at CCHP, we seek to allow people to discover and unleash their creative potential, be that through art, food, writing or simply naming and sharing dreams and aspirations.

We have heard, seen and believe that people experiencing homelessness are very often eager to contribute to their community and create their own future as active agents. We want to support people in that human need to give, contribute and be creative.

“I loved cooking and serving people today. I feel accomplished.”

“This past six months feel different. I’ve got something I’m working towards.”
