Volunteering with the Cambridge Churches Homeless Project - Winter 2023/24

 Link to registration form

Thank you for being interested in volunteering to help at Crossways - this winter's 24/7 accommodation to help prevent rough sleeping in Cambridge. Crossways is run by the local charity It Takes a City (ITAC), in partnership with the Cambridge Churches Homeless Project (CCHP), Cambridge City Council and supported by other organisations in the city. Throughout the winter (1st Nov 2023 to 31st March 2024) we will provide 20 ensuite rooms to individuals who would otherwise be forced to sleep rough, whilst working with them to provide support and find longer term accommodation.

Volunteers play key roles in the provision of food and creating a safe, welcoming community for residents.

To register to volunteer please fill in the form; it should only take 5 to 10 minutes - thank you!

We are recruiting volunteers for several roles (Lead Cooks, Mealtime Assistants, Early Evening Hosts, Weekday Housekeeping Assistants and Weekend Daytime Hosts). Descriptions of the volunteer roles available are found in section 2 of the form. All that’s required is a friendly enthusiasm, a little time and a willingness to help!

You are warmly invited to come, meet us and volunteer to help this winter.

We ask all volunteers to attend a single training evening on either:

  • Thurs 12th Oct 19:30 @ Beth Shalom Synagogue CB5 8DW

  • Weds 18th Oct 19:30 @ St Barnabas’ Church CB1 2BD

  • Tues 24th Oct 18:30 @ C3 Church CB1 3HR

  • Weds 8th Nov 19:00 @ St Andrew’s Street Baptist Church CB2 3AR
